The Resurgence of Passion

r r r r

It’s been at least 4 long years since I last wrote a blog post. Looking back to my old high school blog, it was quite embarrassing, one of the reasons being its ridiculous URL, typical to a high-schoolers’ blogs. But at the same time, it is gratifying to see now that in 9 years I have accumulated almost 20,000 hits. That’s roughly 6 hits/day. A moderate number considering I haven’t updated it for 4 years now and I did absolutely no marketing.

For a year, I have planned to break these years of writing abstinence, but a lot of questions and uncertainties were bogging me down: What should I write about? Who are my audiences? Will they be interested in what I’m going to write? Should I write in English or in Bahasa Indonesia, my mother tongue? And the most critical question: Will I be able to keep it updated?

To be honest, I still have no definite answers to these questions. At some point several weeks ago, I gave up, decided to flush them down the drain, and just do it. I forced myself to start writing on a new blog, on a domain name that has too long been vacant. The deadline: my upcoming 26th birthday, January 9th, 2016.

Word.

I have always been a nitpicker. The tight deadline gives me a chance to stop pursuing perfection. I reassured myself that for now, it is best to have simple, clean blog and that I can always add features and change styles later.

So after seemingly long periods of procrastination making my mind up, I proudly present to you, my blog. Though it’s not yet perfect and doesn’t really reflect my design aesthetics, it’s already out there. Since I’m a designer, most of the time I will be writing about design in general, but I have a knack for typography, programming, and computational graphics. So those might pop up occasionally once every few posts. I imagine I will also write basic tutorials on various things that I’m into.

For those who manage to read my post up until this part, I humbly thank you for your time. I’d be grateful if you share this blog with your relatives & acquaintances. Feel free to get in touch, I don’t bite. I have put my social media on the side menu, you just need to hit that hamburger menu on the top right corner.

Stay tuned and read more about the technicalities of my blog on the next post.
